Margaret Barrett SEA
Biography
Margaret Barrett SEA
Born in a house overlooking the Derby course at Epsom, Margaret Barrett cannot remember a time when she did not draw and paint horses. She holds a degree in Fine Art and her paintings have won awards and sold worldwide. She has exhibited in London, Tokyo, New York and Dubai.
Margaret’s paintings have been published as limited edition prints by Sally Mitchell Fine Arts and Felix Rosenstiels. Her clients have included Royal Doulton, Canon UK, World Horse Welfare and the Blue Cross, as well as many leading owners and trainers. Her work appears on charity greetings cards, calendars and as book illustrations.
As well as equestrian scenes Margaret enjoys painting landscapes and seascapes. She has exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists, The Society of Woman Artists, the RBSA and the Welsh Museum of Modern Art.
She has bred and competed with her own horses. Her work reveals life time’s love of horses and the countryside, but her speciality is in racing scenes. She responds to the power and grace of these magnificent animals by capturing a sense of movement that can almost be heard as well as seen!
Margaret works in oils, pastels and watercolour. She is happy to accept commissions and her portraits are well known for capturing the essence and character of each individual subject.
