Simon Whitnall

Biography

Born in Essex and now working in Bury St Edmunds
Art Education;
1986 – 1988. Suffolk College (Art & Design.)
1989 – 1993. Camberwell School Of Art London. (BA Hons ist Class, 3 Dimensional Design, Silversmithing & Metalwork)
1999- 2001.Norwich School Of Art (M.A. Fine Art Sculpture).

I work mainly in various metals. The different metals that I use give varying colours, textures and changeable qualities according to the changing light, whether natural or artificial.
Movement, momentum and atmosphere, has been an ongoing interest to me. Recently I have been exploring movement of the horse, and rider. The shapes that they create, as one inspired me to work on metal relief . The slightly raised silhouettes of the Horses and Riders create tones and shadows, which enhance the images more 3 dimensionally.
