Biography
JO RICHARDSON
I have been interested in horses for as long as I can remember and have ridden since the age of five. I trained at college to be a riding instructor but in the end concentrated on breeding horses. For 31 yrs I was the Stud Manager at Biddesden Stud on the Hampshire Wiltshire border where we were lucky in enough to produce a Badminton Horse Trials Winner and Olympic team horse, Tamarillo.
I have ridden horses at National shows, including Wembley and Point to Pointed for 3 seasons, I then went to to race Arabian horses. Winning and placed many times. I developed a passion for the Arabian horse culminating in wining The British National Ridden Stallion Championship on a stallion called Sisyrinchium. Many of my paintings are inspired by the Arabian horse.
Alongside the riding instructor course I also took an ‘A’Level in the History of Art and a Foundation art course. Currently I am a member of the Andover Art Society, Winchester Art Group and Wallop artists.
Recently I have worked on Lino cuts for a book ‘White Horses, Chalk Hills’ by Angus Haywood.
I mainly work in Oils, Charcoals and Dry point or Mono Original Prints.
