Jane Johansson

From an early age the sight and silhouette of a horse never failed to catch my attention and open my heart to another world. Early memories of being with my grandfather at the race-course fuelled a life-long passion for horses.

My paintings explore the power of the emotional connection that we share with horses. I endeavour to capture the spirit and soul of the horse from my adventures in the saddle and spending time living with my horses at home.
The sense of freedom and joy, along with the sheer beauty and strength of their visceral presence is what inspires me to create contemporary abstract horse paintings. My journey with paint is relatively recent and I am excited to see where it will take me.

Jane graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion Design from Central St Martins. Her career encompassed the worlds of fashion and dance. She has worked extensively as a costume designer for Contemporary Dance and Modern Ballet with international ballet companies including San Francisco Ballet, Vienna State Opera House, Stuttgart Ballet, The Royal Ballet and English National Opera.
