Anne Bowen A.S.E.A

Biography

Anne is a prize winning artist including: Animals in Art, Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, Society of Equestrian Artists (S.E.A) Sally Mitchell Prize, 2004 Finalist in NOT The Turner Prize, London, 2004 Society of Equestrian Artists Grahame North Best Hunting Picture Prize plus the Sally Mitchell Prize.

Anne has traveled extensively, living in the Middle East, the USA and Europe. Each place she has found herself she has seen as a new painting opportunity and challenge the differing light, colour and even sociology of her locale being grist to her mill.

She has exhibited in Kuwait, Houston, Brussels, Santander in northern Spain and regularly at venues in South London. She has previously illustrated the London edition of the International Wine and Food magazine.

She is currently an in-house artist at the Francis Iles gallery in Rochester, Kent, from where one of her oil paintings was purchased by the Medici Society with a view to publication. She recently won the professional artists first prize in an international competition organized by the Horse and Rider magazine. Much of Anne’s output today is on a commission basis.

In 1997 she became the owner of an ex racehorse. This, as would be expected, ‘set her off on yet another artistic path. She submitted and had accepted, three paintings in each of the 1999 and 2000 Summer Exhibitionsof the Society of Equestrian Artists held at Christie’s in St. James, London.
