“I became an Associate Member in the 1990s exhibiting regularly with the SEA including my full size ‘Thoroughbred’ study, as in Gallery

Commission works always require photos, these support sketches and pastels to develop an eye for the setting, natural beauty and ageless spirit of the horse within a well considered composition, and my oils often seem like watercolour. My multi-media background includes: • 1977 RSA Tile Pattern Design Bursary winner, and 1978 Ceramic Tableware Pattern Design commendation • 1993 European winning logo design for the British Lipizzaner Horse Society • Hand painted prints and tints of local landscapes in various exhibitions • Slipcast and press moulded tile wall and mirror panels • Sketches, Impressions, Illustrations • Published work both written and illustrated*

I love just being with my horses, and manège training (classical horsemanship) is reflected in my artwork. There is so much to observe and learn about the origins of horse’s natural movement, some of which is EquArts Atelier reading material**.

With long breaks from artwork and rusty like anyone I did something about it. As founder and tutor of the EquArts Atelier between house and land away I teach Drawing Horses in the 21st Century (DH21) i.e. Drawing Horses for Beginners to large and small – prelim to professional groups – for the artist/non artist, equestrian/non-equestrian, from all walks of life being also art therapy as all art is gateway to metaphysics. All are ‘beginners’ to this new, unique and fun high arts for all technical drawing approach, being two foundation levels after which we study sophisticated movement all designed to develop skills that underpin painting and sculpture. My new 2011 website gives info and contact detail. 2011 is a special Year Of The Lipizzaner (when the Viennese Stallions Visit the UK in November). DH21 is this year devoted to the technical approach of this most beloved of classical Iberians. This and my book will provide anyone with a comprehensive portfolio and a unique inspirational and cultural arts day out

The courses take place in South Leicestershire (a mile off the A6 south of Leicester) and where much of my work is in private collections. When making contact please mention the SEA website.
