Her father’s profession as an architect and her mother’s talent for oil painting were major artistic influences.

After leaving school, Lorna studied window display, drawing and art history at college and qualified as a Window Display Artist.

She paints in both pastels and oils but pastels are her favoured medium. Although specialising in horses, Lorna also enjoys painting dogs and landscapes, and has completed many horse and dog commissioned portraits and paintings over the years.

Lorna had a Pan Pastels dog painting tutorial published in the SAA “Paint” magazine in November 2021, and was a finalist in their Artist of the Year competition 2022 with her “Layla Golden Retriever” painting.

She has exhibited paintings in the Society’s Horse in Art Annual Exhibition in 2012, 2021 and 2022, promoted to Associate Member in 2021, and elected onto the committee in July 2022.

Lorna is also a gigging musician and music tutor.
