With an impressive exhibition history and an expanding portfolio of public commissions, she has become widely recognised for her powerful equestrian and figurative works.

A lifelong passion for horses underpins her practice, and her ability to capture their energy, elegance, and vitality has established her as one of the UK’s leading equestrian sculptors. Among her most significant works are the deeply moving Romsey War Horse & Trooper, unveiled by HRH The Princess Royal in 2015, and two life-size statues of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II — one portraying the late Queen in her later years, the other marking the moment of her Coronation. Other acclaimed commissions include The Glimmer Twins, Florence Nightingale, the Airborne Soldier for Aldershot, the Gurkha Memorial, and a celebrated statue of racing legend Sir Stirling Moss.

After completing her Fine Art degree at Southampton in 1997, Amy built a career as both sculptor and portrait artist. She works from Project Workshops in Hampshire, a vibrant hub of creativity, where she has refined her distinctive style. Her practice ranges from expressive welded-steel “drawings in space” to sensitively modelled bronzes, alongside her fluid ink and acrylic wash paintings.

Amy strives to convey an emotive — though never sentimental — quality in her work. She seeks the true character of her subjects, using fluid, instinctive mark-making to breathe life into her sculptures. The imprint of her hands and tools often remains visible in the final cast, a testament to the immediacy of her process.

Her international exhibition record includes regular shows with the Society of Equestrian Artists, and she is a two-time winner of the BSAT Best Sculpture Award. Her work has been profiled in Country Life, The Times, and national press.

Major equestrian commissions have punctuated her career:

The Pegasus Project (2012): three welded-steel Pegasus for Flying Horse Walk Arcade, Nottingham.

The Romsey War Horse (2015): A WW1 War Horse & Trooper commissoned for Romsey’s War Memorial Park

The Arborfield Horses (2021): three life-size sculptures — Icarus, Sports Horse Mare, and Youngster — commemorating Arborfield’s rich history as the home of the Remount Depot and Horse Infirmary of REME during WW1 and WW2, and the contemporary riding of today. Past, present and future in an equine installation.

Blackfoot Mystery (2022): a life-size bronze of Boyd Martin’s Olympic event horse, created for a private client in the United States.

Pegasus and Bellerophon (2018): reinstating the historic insignia of the Airborne Forces for the 16 Air Assault Brigade in Colchester.

In both of her statues of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Amy inscribed equestrian imagery into the robes, weaving a tribute to the Queen’s lifelong passion for horses. This symbolism honours Her Majesty not only as monarch but also as one of the world’s most devoted and knowledgeable horsewomen. The Coronation statue is due to be installed in the grounds of Romsey Abbey in 2026.

Whether working in clay, bronze, or steel, Amy’s equestrian sculptures resonate with vitality and sensitivity, distilling movement and spirit into timeless form.

Email: amy@amygoodman.co.uk

Website: www.amygoodman.co.uk

Instagram: @amysculptor1

Facebook: Amy Goodman – Sculptress

["post-4344","full_members","type-full_members","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
