John King Young Artist Award

2015 John King Young Artist Award winner. ‘Memories’ in pen and ink by Victoria Campion.

Online entries for the 2016 John King Young Artist Award are currently being assessed and Pony Club Area Representatives are compiling their shortlist for the prize giving on 23rd August at the final day of the Pony Club UK Championships.

Some lovely and imaginative works have been created by the young artists taking part in the competition, which makes the decision-making process all the more difficult for the judging panel. Current entries can be viewed on the Pony Club UK website.

Over the Pony Club UK Championship’s four days at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire the final framed 15 pieces will be exhibited in a gallery tent. There are opportunities for the young equestrians and budding artists to get involved with painting demonstrations during the week – paper and paints will be made available for all who wish to take part.

A guest judge has been invited to announce the final placings and prizes will be awarded on the final day. In addition the overall winner will also be exhibited at the SEA ‘Horse in Art’ Annual Exhibition at the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing and Sporting Art at Palace House in Newmarket from 21st November to 4th December where the special trophy will be presented to the John King Young Artist 2016.
