GENERAL INFORMATION: Please note that SEA members must be up to date with subscriptions. Work must be original and in any medium except photography/digital art. Previously exhibited work is acceptable for this exhibition and work that is intended for the 2020 Horse in Art may also be exhibited
here. Incorrect/incomplete entries will be discarded with no refunds given.

Please read these notes carefully – no late entries will be accepted Submissions are to be equestrian related and may/may not be accepted at the discretion of the judges. Selection for this exhibition is entirely by digital submission and is MANDATORY FOR FRIENDS and ASSOCIATES.
Works that are accepted at this stage can be considered accepted for the exhibition.
**For this exhibition ONE entry per artist may be non equestrian in nature (when entering three images or more) to showcase our members versatility and can be landscape, animal, portrait or still life etc. ** THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL.

NB There is NO selection process for Full Members and all work entered is accepted for the exhibition.

You are entitled to submit a maximum of SIX works for consideration, however the MAXIMUM number of accepted works that will be hung for
Friends is THREE, Associates FOUR; Full members are entitled to have up to SIX works hung, with the option of work described as ACCEPTED NOT HUNG. The minimum price for works in the exhibition is set at £300 with the exception of original prints.

Entry Fee: £12 for each work submitted. Full Members entering the maximum of six works will be entitled to TWO of those entries free. There are NO hanging fees. Entry fees to be paid online by bacs transfer (preferred) or PayPal via the SEA website www.equestrianartists.co.uk or by cheque, made payable to the “Society of Equestrian Artists”. Not For Sale Work (You may enter only one NFS work per person) at £25 per entry.
Please retain a copy of your entry form to accompany your work to Handing in Day.

Digital images are to be submitted by email or on CD as .JPG attachments and are to accompany the entry form and fees. Image size at least one height/width dimension of 1000px at 300dpi Please save your images with the following naming protocol: surname-name_title-of-work.jpg (e.g. Brown-Tom_Grey-Horse.jpg ) Please Submit ONE image per entry, apart from sculpture, for which it is advisable to submit at least THREE views.

Ensure your image is saved with the SAME title as the work it refers to Images will be retained for administrative and publicity purposes. Winners of prizes in the exhibition should also be advised that images of their work may also be used for magazine editorial. Artists will receive full credit for their work with contact details where appropriate and it is hoped that this will also work to publicise and promote members’ work. Artists who do not wish their work to be used for this purpose should inform Admin. 


Hanging: Every effort will be made to hang all work which has been selected for exhibition but this may not always be possible, and acceptance implies no obligation to hang. In the unlikely event of work accepted but not hung, the artist will be informed on Hanging Day and will be expected to make arrangements with Admin for collection. ALL works must be clearly labelled with the Artist name, Category of membership (‘Non-Member’ ‘Friend’ etc), Title of Work, Medium used, Selling Price, Address and Telephone number. For pictures: The label must be attached to the top of the picture and the string must be long enough to hang the label over the front. In addition, the same details must be written on the reverse of the painting on a second label in case the luggage label becomes detached. For sculpture: Tie the label to the piece and put the artists name and title on an adhesive label fixed to the underside of the work if possible. ALL paintings must be completely dry, and will not be considered for hanging if they are not.
IMPORTANT: All pictures must be properly framed. Clip frames will not be accepted. ALL PICTURES MUST BE READY TO HANG WITH D RINGS (NO SCREW EYES.) Please be aware that improperly or poorly framed work can and will be rejected. Sculptures should be on a base. If in doubt please ask.
Unframed work will not be accepted, with the exception of ‘Deep Canvases’ (the canvas must be a minimum of 30mm deep with no tacks or staples showing) and the painting must continue around the edges of the canvas (no white edges showing). Multi-image entries (e.g. triptychs must be within one frame or attached together as one picture – this does not apply to sculpture where the works need not be on the same base, but they MUST be clearly labelled as part of one entry. (each sculpture attracts a separate entry fee) Insurance: We do not offer insurance. Entrants are strongly advised to insure their work. The Society accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to uninsured work howsoever caused, and hereby expressly disclaims liability for any form of loss or damaged to exhibited work, or for physical injury to an artist’s reputation or for any other cause. The Society for All Artists (SAA) provides exhibition insurance at various levels for its members, and artists who do not  already have insurance may find this helpful. Withdrawal of work: Work selected and handed in to the exhibition, cannot be withdrawn until its close on Wed 29th April. (the exception would be work Accepted Not Hung). Work not sold at the exhibition may be collected on Collection Day on Thurs 30th April between 11am and 2.00pm. Any work which remains uncollected will be disposed of as we do not have any storage facilities. Commission: Commission of 40% of the catalogue price excluding the current rate of VAT if applicable ) will be deducted on all sales.

Getting your work to Handing in Day. Courier for WESTON PARK Artists who wish to submit work but prefer to avoid travelling to WESTON can send their work with an Art Courier. This is at the artist’s own expense. It is recommended you make contact with your courier in advance of Pre selection to ascertain terms, and confirm details immediately upon receiving your Pre selection results or they may not be able to accommodate you. Couriers will also collect work for return. Suggested
Couriers: South Hams Express Ltd has kindly agreed to make delivery/collection runs to Weston and are happy to receive enquiries. Contact details for this courier is given below. This list is not exhaustive and other couriers are available. Make sure you contact your courier for in plenty of time to make arrangements. Please remember that all arrangements for getting your work both to and from the exhibition are still entirely the responsibility of the artist.
