Biography
In the Northwest of England, just a stone’s throw from the historic town of Chester, I live on the edge of Delamere Forest with my husband, dog, cat, multiple fish, 2 sheep and 2 Pekin ducks, where every day brings some new challenge.
Inspired by the beautiful Cheshire countryside, its wildlife, and the wonderful Chester Zoo, I am fortunate in having no shortage of animal subjects to paint. But, having a life-long love of horses, I particularly enjoy equine art: I am drawn to their energy and movement which I try to capture on the canvas whilst still portraying their form and beauty.
After retiring from the NHS, I was able to devote time to my passion for art and undertook a 12 month Portrait Diploma course with the Realist Academy Manchester and, since graduating in 2020, I have now expanded my portfolio to include portraits. This has been particularly rewarding and I have enjoyed undertaking commissions in recent years.
I work mainly in oils, occasionally with mixed media (adding liquid gold and/or gold or copper leaf) which adds a vibrancy and richness to the paintings and have exhibited at galleries both locally and more widely in the North of England – as well as donated paintings to charity auctions.
Currently I have an Equine series of paintings for sale: all original oil on canvas of varying size and available to view at the Goose Green Art Gallery, in Altrincham, from mid-December.
As a friend of the Association of Equine Artists and a Member of the Association of Animal Artists, I am happy to undertake commissions.
Please feel free to contact me by phone, email or via my social media if you are interested in any of my art pieces for sale or have any questions or commission enquiries.
