Jackie Millar

Biography

Jackie Millar is a classically trained artist living in Northumberland who creates figurative sculptures, one off pieces, limited editions, drawings and portraits. She has always had a passion for horses, persuading her parents to let her have riding lessons at the age of three. She has owned her own horses and for a time in the 80’s she rode out for a local National hunt trainer, her passion is life long.

After gaining her degree in Fine Art, Jackie was one of only seven artists selected that year to attend the The Sir Henry Doulton School of Sculpture in Stoke on Trent.

This was a bursary run course provided by influential trustees including Sir Stuart Lyons and Dame Elizabeth Frink. She studied alongside internationally acclaimed sculptors Steven Whyte, John McKenna, Michael Talbot, Charles Hazzard, and David Goode.

Her time there provided classical figurative art training by highly regarded specialists in sculptural techniques, life drawing, perspective, colour, and anatomy. During this time, her work was exhibited and soldiers in the Royal Doulton Gallery in London, Keele University, Rufford Park, and Shugborough Hall.
