Dr Elizabeth Sherratt

Dr Elizabeth Sherratt holds a doctorate in art and science and specialises in the visual perception of horses. She collaborates with leading equine scientists to enhance equine welfare by considering how horses see the world. Her primary methodology involves observing and drawing horses from life, which informs her equine vision practice as well as her equine art.

A constant source of reference and inspiration for Dr Sherratt is the art and scientific approach of George Stubbs. Key areas of focus in her equine art include anatomy and movement. She combines traditional drawing and painting techniques with a contemporary edge. Dr Sherratt’s work is a direct response to the individuality of each horse she has the privilege to draw and paint, many of which are commissioned pieces.
