Born in Aberdeenshire, Catherine grew up surrounded by horses, resulting in a lifelong passion and admiration for these animals.
After a foundation art year in Paris Catherine returned to the UK to do a BaHons in Philosophy and Classics at Durham University. However after graduating, she decided to focus on her art and to that end moved to Italy to study in an atelier in Florence.
Since then Catherine has been based between London and Italy, although a considerable amount of time is spent travelling in Europe and the States completing commissioned work. She also spends a lot of time on her own work and recently held a successful solo show in London.
Catherine enjoys painting a wide variety of horses – from the coarsest gypsy ponies to the sleekest of showjumpers. She also loves to try and capture the movement of horses within their world, and has had the chance to study a diverse range of subjects from racehorses at Epsom to the Queen’s stalking ponies at Balmoral.
