Anj Jamieson
Biography
Anj Jamieson is a Scottish contemporary animal artist based in the Central Belt.
Working from her home studio, she garners inspiration from nature; the farmland and woodland that surrounds her home allows for an abundance of references to create the art she loves doing.
Anj enjoys painting all manner of animals, but her true passion lies in horses; they have been a staple not just in her artwork, but throughout her life. The connection she has experienced with them is what drives her to paint, drawing from childhood memories when being around horses was the most exciting thing imaginable!
That nostalgia for her childhood also influences her use of colour and play during the process of her mixed media paintings. She believes that enjoying the process is as important as, if not more than, the finished piece. By using mixed media, it allows Anj to really get involved in the creative process, adding in collage and interesting texture, appreciating the little pops of colours that peep through the layers and the hints of abstraction that gives her style an unexpected twist.
Anj started her artistic career in 2012, primarily working on pet portraits. Over the years she has exhibited in solo shows and open studios and is proud to have her work in homes around the world including Portugal, Australia and New Zealand.
She accepts commissions and has recently found a love of doing workshops from her home studio.
