Ken Stewart A.S.E.A

Biography

Ken Stewart is an Irish equestrian artist who specialises in horse portraits and Irish hunting, racing and sporting art in oils. He has combined his talent for portraiture with his skills as an equestrian artist to create unique commissions for over 40 years

He has exhibited In the Mall Galleries, London for several years, Christies and in numerous galleries and exhibitions throughout Ireland. In addition, he has won several awards including Horse and Hound Best Racing Picture 2010 and Best Sporting Picture 2003 at the UK Society of Equestrian Artists Annual Exhibitions and a national award for portraiture sponsored by Nancy Komiskey

His interest started over 30 years ago when he studied at the University of Ulster under the expert tuition of John Turner, RUA who inspired him to focus on specific subject matter. Since then he has been passionate about producing artwork that portrays both people and their horses in local surroundings

Ken is a Committee member of the Arts Society of Ulster and was Hon. President of the Society from 2007-2009. He also is Chairman of a horse welfare charity in Northern Ireland
