Sara Hodson SEA

Sara Hodson SEA

“The summers I spent in Ireland as a child gave me a love of country life and horses. My early experiences of horse fairs, horse racing and farming left a deep impression and sketch books full of drawings. Working from my own sketches, drawings and photographs I often return to the same locations. I never tire of repeating this process as I gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of my subject.”

Sara was brought up in Newton Abbot, Devon where her love of horse racing began and a few school days were lost. Summers were spent in West Cork where her mother’s family are from. Having completed an Art Foundation Course she went on to study History at Plymouth University followed by a MA in Irish Studies at Bath College. In 1996 Sara moved to Ireland teaching art and exhibiting, which she continues to do to this day.

Her work is commissioned world wide and she exhibits regularly in the UK and Ireland. She enjoys working on commissions and her paintings have been bought by racecourses, racehorse owners, county councils and many other individuals and corporations.

More details about commissioning work can be found on her website.
