A self-taught artist, Lucy Turmaine began selling her animal portraits aged 13. On leaving school she undertook a saddlery apprenticeship with Keith Luxford of Teddington, winning awards at the National Saddlery Competition, but continued to paint and draw in her spare time. Lucy is a qualified member of the Society of Master Saddlers and still hand makes best quality bridlework to order
In 1995, Lucy decided to take a more professional approach to her artwork. This has has resulted in the completion of hundreds of portraits for clients nationwide. A friend of the Society of Equestrian Arstists she has exhibited at their Annual Exhibition at Christies, London and won the painting prize at the 2003 Devon workshop
Lucy specialises in pastel and oil animal portraits worked from good, clear photographs (returned with finished painting). She mounts and frames them herself and they are sent by Royal Mail 24 hour service. Portraits are usually completed within 4 weeks of receipt of order although early ordering for Christmas is appreciated.
