The notes below are from Chris:
“My paintings combine my passion for movement, colour and texture and my love of animals and horses. Whether in watercolour or mixed media canvases I can make my emotionally led pictures far more accessible by using animal forms as the hook to hang the expressive nature of the paintings. This is no compromise but a sincere wish to communicate to a wider audience than the insular world of the artist. Based in a village just outside Newmarket I have a wealth of subject matter.
The watercolours are never mixed on a palette but applied straight to the paper and allowed to merge to create a fresh vibrancy impossible with premixed washes. Similarly, I never use preliminary pencil work, just using broad brush strokes to sketch out the silhouette and working ever finer into that first burst of emotion.
“The canvases are mainly created with acrylics, oils and emulsions, applied with palette knife and textural objects. The form grows out of the background, and allows them to be viewed as both representational and as abstract textural pieces, rather like the cave paintings of early man.
“I only sell originals as no printing process can capture their colour, texture and power but I am willing to take commissions.
