“I have always painted and drawn, mostly animals as they are my favourite subject and horses in particular as they are such beautiful and captivating animals

“I studied art at college but decided not to take it to degree level as I was always being criticised for drawing too many horses and nothing else! Instead I studied an equine science degree, giving me a sound knowledge of equine anatomy which I use to make my paintings as realistic as possible

“I work predominantly in oil paints as I love the rich colour and vibrancy they add to pictures, which really brings them to life. I am also happy to work in pencils and have been accepting commissions for a number of years now as well as producing my own original works

“My favourite paintings involve horses moving, be it galloping, cantering, rearing, or trotting extravagantly. I like to focus on putting lots of detail into the horse, making them the star of my piece, and then I create an abstract background around them to represent the mood of the painting and accentuate the power and passion of the horse
