SEA Members. It’s time to enter our Annual Horse in Art exhibition! This year we returning to the wonderful Museum of the Horse at the Sally Mitchell Gallery,  Market Place, Tuxford, Newark NG22 0LA and we can’t wait to see your entries.

Eligibility
• Open to paid up members only
• The Society welcomes paintings, drawings sculpture and original (digital art is NOT accepted)
• All work must have been completed in the last three years and not have previously been exhibited in the Horse in Art but work exhibited at We Give You the Horse is allowed
• Work must have a minimum sale price of £300 with the exception of Original hand pulled Prints
• The catalogue price of your work must include 40% commission +VAT if applicable
• ‘Not for sale’ work is not accepted
• Friends and Associates, a maximum of 3 works will be selected for Friends and 4 for Associates.
• Size of work. Please be aware that there is limited space for large works and be thoughtful in your submissions

Submit you work via the online entry form. Entry Fee: £12 per artwork / Maximum No Entries: Six
Work must be original and may be in any medium except photography/digital art. All submissions are to be equestrian related and may/may not be accepted at the discretion of the judges. THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL. The Judging Panel is consisted of the 2026 Cuneo Medal Winner, 2 outside judges and two full Members. You are entitled to submit a maximum of SIX works for consideration, however be aware that the MAXIMUM number of accepted works that will be hung for Friends is THREE, Associates FOUR; Full members are entitled to have up to SIX works hung. The SEA reserves the right to not hang work that is not as described, but will be included in the catalogue described as ACCEPTED NOT HUNG.  COMMISSION:

Commission of 40% of the catalogue price (excluding the current rate of VAT if applicable) will be deducted on all sales

Digital pre selection is MANDATORY for Friends and Associates if your work is selected please finalise your arrangements for getting the work to the Gallery. This is designed to minimise costs for our artists (Full Members work is automatically accepted for hanging) Work will be sold ‘off the wall’ to purchasers.
Images are to be uploaded via the online entry form, or by email as a JPG attachment. Image size at least one mb.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Full Members – If submitting the maximum of six works receive three free entries
Associate Members – Submitting the maximum of six works receive 1 free entry
There are NO hanging fees. Entry fees to be paid online via paypal, or bacs, or by cheque (payable to the “Society of Equestrian Artists”)
Payment through PayPal you can also pay as a ‘guest’ using your credit or debit card via PayPal when submitting the online entry form. Or by bacs to the ‘Society of Equestrian Artists ‘ Sort: 20-75-01 Account Number: 60815144
Please retain a copy of your entry form to accompany your work to Handing in Day.

HANGING:
Every effort will be made to hang selected work, but this may not always be possible. Acceptance implies no obligation to hang and the Hanging Committee reserve the right not to hang work. In the unlikely event of work accepted but not hung, the artist will be informed on Hanging Day. Works MUST be clearly labelled with the Artist name, Category of membership, Title of Work, Medium used, Selling Price, Address and Telephone number. For pictures: A luggage type label must be attached to the top of the picture, & the string must be long enough to hang the label over the front to assist the hanging team. A second label with the same details must also be affixed to the reverse of the painting. For sculpture: Tie the label to the piece and put the artists name and title on an adhesive label fixed to the underside of the work (if possible). IMPORTANT: All pictures must be properly framed. Clip frames will not be accepted. ALL PICTURES MUST BE READY TO HANG WITH D RINGS and strung. Please be aware that improperly or poorly framed work can and will be rejected. Sculptures should be on a base. If in doubt please ask. Unframed work is not accepted, with the exception of ‘Deep Canvases’ (the canvas must be a minimum of 30mm deep with no tacks or staples showing) and the painting must continue around the edges of the canvas (no white edges showing). Multi-image entries (e.g. triptychs must be within one frame or attached together as one picture – this does not apply to sculpture where the works need not be on the same base, but MUST be clearly labelled as part of one entry.

Withdrawal of work: Work selected and handed in to the exhibition, cannot be withdrawn. All Unsold Work to be collected on Collection Day Sunday 27th September between 10am - 2.00pm. Work will not be stored. If work is uncollected it will be removed by Picture Post. The storage and retrieval of this work is at the artist’s expense

Promotion - If you are seeking promotion please tick the box on the online form. This will enable our Full Members to familiarise themselves with your work, and you will be on our 'radar'. We expect artists to have demonstrated a consistency exhibiting at the Horse in Art for a minimum of a few years before promotion is awarded to Friends, or Associates are invited to submit a portfolio for promotion to Full Member.

Save your images with the following naming protocol: surname-name_title-of-work.jpg (e.g. Brown,Tom Grey Horse.jpg ) Please Submit ONE image per entry, apart from sculpture, for which it is advisable to submit at least THREE views.
Your image must be saved with the SAME title as the work it refers to Images may be used for administrative and publicity purposes on Social Media and website editorial etc. Winners of any prizes that may be awarded should be advised that images of their work may also be used for magazine editorial. Artists will receive full credit for their work with contact details where appropriate and it is hoped that this will also publicise and promote members’ work. Artists who do not wish their work to be used for this purpose should inform Admin or your submission of your entry will imply consent to these uses.

Delivery & Collection
• Packaging from artist delivered works cannot be retained and must be taken away at the point of delivery.
• We are unable to wrap works or provide wrapping materials for any works being returned.
• Any uncollected work will be removed and stored at a separate location, the artist will have to contact Picture Post to retrieve their artwork. This will incur a storage and transport fee.
Selection: The Selection Committee is formed of artist members of the Society and is rotated annually.  Judges’ decisions are final and we are generally unable to offer feedback.

All arrangements & costs for getting your work both to and from the exhibition are entirely the responsibility of the artist. The SEA do not offer a packing service for returning artwork. Please remember to enclose a copy of your entry form with any work shipped to or collected by your Courier. If couriering work to and from the exhibition via Picture Post please try and make your packaging reusable where possible. Work must arrive on the Handing in Day.

International Entrants
• All international submissions. Artists will need to ship their work to Picture Post unless bringing in person or via a contact in the UK. Please note that if selected international works arrive damaged, with unacceptable framing, or not as illustrated, they may be rejected.
• If you are not a UK resident and your work is sold at the exhibition you have a responsibility to register and account for UK VAT with H.M. Revenue & Customs at www.hmrc.gov.uk HM Revenue & Customs Reference: Notice 700/1).

COPYRIGHT The submitted work must be entirely the artist's own work and must not breach any copyright laws. ANY PHOTOGRAPHS YOU USE AS REFERENCE SHOULD IDEALLY BE YOUR OWN, OR YOU MUST SUBMIT WRITTEN PERMISSION/EMAIL DEMONSTRATING THAT YOU HAVE PERMISSION FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER TO USE THEIR IMAGE. BE AWARE THAT THE FREE USE OF SO CALLED ‘ROYALTY FREE IMAGES’ DOES NOT GENERALLY INCLUDE LICENCING PERMISSION FOR DERIVATIVE ARTWORKS THAT ARE TO BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR SALE AND A DIFFERENT LICENCE WOULD NEED TO BE OBTAINED AND PAID FOR TO BE USED AS SUCH. WORK PRODUCED IN THIS WAY IS NOT ALLOWED & WILL NOT KNOWINGLY BE ACCEPTED FOR EXHIBITION.

The SEA does not offer insurance. Entrants are advised to insure their work. The Society accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to uninsured work, and hereby expressly disclaims liability for any form of loss or damaged to exhibited work, or for physical injury to an artist’s reputation or for any other cause.
